Monthly Update

Month ending September 2009

1.  Commentary

September was an uninspiring but low volatility month with the final result being slightly under breakeven for our track record account. Our high frequency systems have been underperforming in the current market conditions while our end of day rotational system did not fare much better.

It has now been 8 months since our last significantly positive return, however we are pleased that our drawdown has been kept to 2.9%. While we wait for the markets to favour our current portfolio of systems we are busy analysing and searching for more systems to add to the portfolio that will boost returns in the mean time.

Patience can be tough during these times, especially when other asset classes such as equities are posting strong returns. However our lack of correlation with these equities classes is also a key reason why an investment with Zone Capital provides value to a balanced portfolio. The pain of flat performance while others are making profits is the price we pay for this value.
